Postgraduate Training Body Accreditation
In the interests of transparency, reports of every accreditation undertaken by Council under the Medical Practitioners Act 2007 are being published. The content of the reports reflect the strenuous efforts of the Council and the bodies involved to ensure high quality postgraduate medical training. Details about the rules, criteria, standards and guidelines, the Council uses for postgraduate medical education and training are also available.
Following baseline accreditation which took place between 2011 and 2013, each training body engaged constructively with Council to address the findings of their accreditation report. Council commenced a new phase of postgraduate accreditation in 2015 which builds upon accreditation activity completed to date, and is focused on programmes of specialist training which were not evaluated during the 2011-2013 schedule.
