Official Opening of Kingram House by Minister Mary Harney T.D

The Medical Council's new premises at Kingram House was officially opened on 6th November 2009 by the Minister for Health and Children, Ms Mary Harney TD. Addressing the Minister and guests, Professor Kieran Murphy, President of the Medical Council, welcomed the opportunity that the Medical Practitioners Act 2007 gives the Council, allowing for more comprehensive engagement with both the medical profession and the public;

"A theme of this Council is that all doctors on our Register must be "fit for purpose". This drives the standards we set for undergraduate education, postgraduate training and the maintenance of professional competence. Similarly, this new building was designed to be fit for purpose to facilitate the needs of a modernised Medical Council focused on meeting the expectations of a contemporary society."
