Public Consultation on Draft Rules made pursuant to the provisions under sections 11, 88 and 89 of the Medical Practitioners Act 2007 ("the Act").

The Medical Council has agreed the rules made pursuant to the provisions under section 11, section 88 and section 89 of the Medical Practitioners Act 2007 ("the Act").

In meeting its statutory obligations in this regard, the Council is publishing the rules in draft form and, in accordance with section 11 of the Act, is inviting members of the public, any organisation and any other body to comment on the draft. Accordingly, as required under section 11(8) of 'the Act', the Medical Council is now publishing the Rules, for public consultation.

The Medical Council is inviting you to submit your views on these draft rules. Following this consultation process and consideration of submissions received, the draft rules will be reviewed and finalised. Submissions on the draft rules must reach the Council by close of business on Friday, 23rd April 2010.

When published, the rules will define the manner in which standards of medical education and training for basic, intern and specialist medical qualifications are set and monitored by the Medical Council in the Republic of Ireland.
