Medical Council Confirms 2012 Conference Programme

The Medical Council today (15th October 2012) finalised the programme for its 2012 conference, which will be held in the Royal Hospital Kilmainham on November 16th, and announced that it has extended its early bird booking rate of €99 until October 26th.

The full day conference programme includes:

  • An address from Minister for Health, Dr James Reilly TD
  • An interactive session on "The Medical Moral Maze", giving delegates the opportunity to debate and discuss ethical issues
  • A series of afternoon workshops to provide attendees with expert tips to assist in conducting clinical audit, as well as the opportunity to explore issues relating to doctors' health and fitness to practise
  • Sessions on the importance of doctors' health and professionalism in a changing world
  • National and international perspectives on changing medical regulation, including speakers from the Medical Council of New Zealand and the UK's General Medical Council

CEO of the Medical Council, Ms Caroline Spillane said:

“The conference will provide delegates with an opportunity to receive local and international perspectives on issues relating to Irish medical practice.  The event has been designed to encourage discussion and debate on areas such as doctors’ health, professionalism and ethics, and the Council is looking forward to sharing views with attendees on the day.”
