Medical Council seeks expressions of interest for Committee Membership

Thursday, 13th April, 2023: The Medical Council is currently seeking expressions of interest from relevant parties to serve on a number of committees from 1st June 2023.

The Medical Council, which is the regulatory body for doctors, has a statutory role in protecting the public by promoting the highest professional standards amongst doctors practising in Ireland. To support the Council in delivering its significant role and remit, Council have put in place a governance structure, supported by committees, focusing on particular aspects of the Council’s work.

There are seven Committees, as follows:

• Audit & Risk Committee
• Education & Training Committee
• Registration & Continuing Practice Committee
• Preliminary Proceedings Committee
• Fitness to Practise Committee
• Health Committee
• Monitoring Committee

Speaking today, Medical Council President, Dr Suzanne Crowe said;

“Serving on a Committee of the Medical Council is a great opportunity to help support the work of Council, and to have an input into the processes and procedures of Council’s work. It offers Committee Members a chance to contribute to this regulatory environment and ensure fair and balanced views across the board, as we benefit from the insight and experience of our Committee Members".
