There are multiple transport options available to access the offices of the Medical Council, including bus, LUAS, rail, bicycle, taxi and car. Public transport is encouraged where possible. Detailed information for each transport option is outlined below.

Bus Services

Dublin Bus Dublin Bus operates services throughout the city. Their website provides up-to-date timetable information, real-time service updates and details on wheelchair-accessible routes.

Bus Éireann

Bus Éireann operates national and regional bus services. Services to Dublin city centre connect with onward transport options.

Other private and regional bus operators also serve Dublin city centre. The Transport for Ireland Journey Planner can assist in identifying suitable routes.

LUAS

The LUAS tram network provides access across Dublin via the Red and Green lines. The nearest stop is Charlemont LUAS Stop on the Green Line. Please consult the LUAS website for route maps, stop locations and live service updates.

Rail

Iarnród Éireann (Irish Rail) operates national, DART and commuter rail services into Dublin city. Pearse Station is the nearest to our offices. For full details on routes, timetables and station information, visit:

Cycling

Public bicycle services operate throughout Dublin city. Route planning is available via Transport for Ireland.  Public bicycle stands are available to the front of the office. A bicycle repair kit and pump is available at Reception.

Walking

Walking routes and estimated journey times within Dublin city can be calculated using standard map and journey planning tools.

Taxi

Taxis operate throughout Dublin and can drop passengers directly outside the Medical Council offices. Taxi ranks are located across the city centre. Please your taxi driver to use the Eircode D02 XY88 as it will bring you to the main entrance of the building.

Car

If travelling by car, follow the main national routes into Dublin city centre and use a navigation system for final directions.

There are traffic restrictions and one-way systems in operation across the city centre.

There are no car parking spaces available at our building, there is general on-street parking in the immediate vicinity. Dublin City Council provide parking information here.

Assistance and Emergencies

If you require assistance during your visit to the Medical Council, speak to a member of staff or Reception.

First Aid assistance and a defibrillator are available on site. If you feel unwell, inform Reception immediately.

In the event of an emergency, follow the instructions of staff and exit the building using the nearest emergency exit. Emergency doors release automatically when the fire alarm is activated. If a door does not open, use the emergency release button located beside the door. Evacuation routes are posted throughout the building, and information is available at reception.

Guide and Assistance Dogs

Guide and assistance dogs are welcome in the building. Water can be provided on request.

Lighting

Reception and meeting rooms have both natural and artificial lighting. Lighting levels may be adjusted during presentations.

CCTV

CCTV operates within the building for security and safety purposes. Recorded images are processed in line with data protection requirements.

Accessible Toilets

Accessible and unisex toilet facilities are available for visitors.  Please ask Reception staff for directions/ assistance.

 

Reception

At Reception in the offices of the Medical Council you can:

• Arrange to drop off additional documentation

• Seek guidance if you have an appointment. Please note we are an appointments only office. For an appointment, please email appointments@mcirl.ie

• Visitors are asked to sign-in at the reception desk on arrival. If the desk is unattended, please ring the buzzer and wait a moment for a staff member to assist.

• First Aid equipment and a defibrillator are located in this area.

Seating Area

A seating area is available in Reception where you may:

• Wait for a scheduled appointment

• Review documents before dropping off.

Inquiry and Meeting Rooms

The Inquiry and meeting rooms are not open to the public unless you are invited to attend a hearing, meeting, or appointment, or have been given permission by staff.

Our inquiry and meeting rooms are available to the public when public inquiries are in progress.

If attending a scheduled event:

• Access will be provided by staff, security or health and safety personnel

• Staff will provide guidance on room layout and facilities – please advise if you use mobility aids so  seating layouts can be adjusted where required.

• Presentation requirements should be arranged in advance with the event organiser

• Staff will provide assistance in the event of an emergency.

Private Meeting Room

A private meeting room is available for scheduled appointments or where a confidential discussion is required. Access is by appointment with staff.

Doors and access points are designed to allow clear entry and exit. Staff will provide guidance if required.

When your visit to the Medical Council has concluded, we have prepared some information below to help you exit the office;

Please sign-out at the Reception desk and exit the building through the same main entrance used on arrival.

The Receptionist can unlock the door remotely / there is a green release button on the wall to the left of the door.

Please request assistance from Reception or security staff if needed.
