CAREhub Support Service
The Medical Council regulates doctors in Ireland. In our role as regulator, we promote patient safety, maintain professional standards, and aim to build trust in the healthcare system. Through our compassionate regulatory approach, we protect the public and the well-being of doctors.
The Medical Council stays with the doctor throughout medical education, and from registration to retirement. We strive to align with global best practices, and to communicate with our stakeholders in an empathetic and clear way.
We understand that doctors and members of the public who interact with doctors can sometimes encounter unique challenges. To support doctors and individuals who are engaging with the Medical Council, we offer CAREhub - an independent, confidential, wellbeing support service provided by Lyra Health International. This service provides a safe space to speak with a qualified professional offering emotional and wellbeing support.
What is CAREhub?
CAREhub provides independent mental health support to doctors and members of the public who are engaging with the Medical Council’s regulatory processes. This service offers confidential, impartial, and empathetic guidance to those interacting with the Medical Council’s regulatory processes, such as registration, education, training, complaints, investigations, and fitness to practise procedures.
The goal of CAREhub is to offer a supportive, listening ear, and give you immediate, direct access to trained counsellors who can help you to navigate situations effectively. CAREhub prioritises your well-being, offering accessible and confidential assistance round-the-clock.
Who is CAREhub for?
CAREhub provides immediate, round the clock, empathetic support to doctors, and members of the public who are engaging in the Medical Council’s regulatory processes. CAREhub is free and available to:
- Doctors
- Members of the public involved in Medical Council processes who may be emotionally affected
Your Privacy
Your privacy is our priority at CAREhub. As an entirely independent, confidential external support service, CAREhub does not share any personal or sensitive information with the Medical Council, employers, or other third parties**.
In addition, CAREhub has no access to the Medical Council’s files. Any regulatory, personal, or sensitive information that you may hold with the Medical Council is not shared with CAREhub.
CAREhub is available 24/7/365 and is free to access, independent, confidential, and entirely non-judgmental. CAREhub prioritises your well-being, offering accessible and confidential assistance round-the-clock.
All calls are answered directly by qualified counsellors, who will provide guidance and immediate support every step of the way.
CAREhub services are available 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, every day of the year. It is free to access, independent, confidential, and entirely non-judgmental. Simply call CAREhub's freephone number, provided by Lyra Health International, whenever you need support.
